Upper Brompton

Let me start things off right, Brompton Street is two blocks long, on a small hill. I just happen to live on the "upper" part of said hill, hence, "Upper Brompton".  I would like to thank my neighbors on "Lower Marye" for the idea.

First things first, we are a homeschool family.  We weren't always.  In our North Carolina days, (we're in Virginia now),  our daughter went to a great public school.  I owned a business at the time and homeschooling wasn't on my radar, at all.  Then when my son was born a few years later, I sold the shop to stay home with the kids and ended up babysitting/tutoring for my neighbor.  With a total of five kids in the house, I realized that I loved the feel of schooling at home with lots of kids around.  I still can't convince my husband that five kids is the magic number for us, but he digs homeschool.  I'm halfway there!

My dream is to work on old houses.  There's just something about fresh starts that feel right to me.  And I have a strong desire to not let any old house go unloved.  Of course, I have to start with my own.  Our cute little Brompton house didn't need any major work when we moved in, mostly thanks to the great family that lived here before us.  All I had to do was find my style and let the house guide me.  I can't wait to share what I'm up to!

This life is definitely a journey and I'm so excited to see where we head next.
